Your Partner in Care

I deliver at both the Royal Hospital For Women and the Prince of Wales Private Hospital. My rooms are located on site, at the Private Consulting Suites on Level 7 of the Prince of Wales Private Hospital. I limit the number of patients I deliver each month, to be able to provide a generous amount of time to each mother-to-be. At antenatal consultations, I consult on each pregnancy’s progress and address any concerns. All birthing options are explored and I provide additional information relevant to each of the various stages of pregnancy.

Each mother-to-be will have a different ‘pregnancy journey’ and I am happy to discuss and try to accommodate individual wishes as much as possible. The priority is always on the safety and wellbeing of you and your baby. In addition to the support that I provide during a patients’ pregnancy, on occasions I may recommend the services of allied health professionals whom I respect and have found useful, both personally and for my previous patients.

I work in a small group practice with 3 other highly skilled female obstetricians – Dr Nadya ChamiDr Siobhan Lee and Dr Sarah Clements. Should I be away or have the weekend off, one of these lovely obstetricians will look after my practice.

On your first consultation.

Week 8-10

Your first visit usually takes place between the eighth and tenth weeks, and is the longest consultation, lasting about one hour. A complete medical history is obtained and an examination is performed. For some, the ultrasound taken at this visit will be the first time you see your baby. This scan provides useful information about the age – or gestation – of the pregnancy.

What should I bring ?

Bring the following to your first visit:

  • blood test results from your GP, also known as the Antenatal Screen
  • ultrasound scans already taken, if applicable
  • a referral from your GP, which enables you to claim a Medicare rebate
  • lots of  questions
  • your husband, partner, a family member or friend, who are welcome at any appointment.

Subsequent visits.

At each visit your blood pressure is checked and the progress of your pregnancy is monitored. An ultrasound is usually performed at each visit. Additional visits after the first at 8-10 weeks usually last about 15-20 minutes and occur at weeks:

•  15-16                     •  30
   •  20-22                   •  32
•  24-26                   •  34
•  28                         •  36

•  then weekly until your baby is born.  If additional visits are required, these can be arranged with no additional out-of-pocket expenses.

Continuity of care is

our commitment
